Son Fights for His Parents

A Campaign for Humanity and Justice

The European Parliament, answering the call of human rights advocate Ding Lebin, has adopted a resolution titled “The ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China, notably the case of Mr. Ding Yuande (2024/2504(RSP))”, urging the CCP to immediately and unconditionally release his father, Mr Ding Yuande, and all Falun Gong practitioners, and calling on the EU and its member states to impose sanctions on the CCP perpetrators.

CCP´s Atrocities Against Chinese Farming Family

Ding Lebin´s parents are tea farmers, and are practitioners of the Chinese spiritual practice Falun Gong. The CCP has persecuted this Chinese farming family for more than 25 years.

Due to the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong by China’s communist regime, Ding´s family of three has been separated: Ding Lebin´s father, Mr Ding Yuande, is being detained in the Shandong Province Prison without any legal basis, while his mother, Mrs Ma Ruimei, is under surveillance in their village of Rizhao City, Shandong Province, after her release was brought about by rescue campaigns abroad. Meanwhile, Mr Ding Lebin, their only child, is forced to live in exile in Germany.

Son’s Advocacy Sparks International Support

Ding Lebin’s efforts have sparked an increase in global awareness of the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong, and prompted an EU Resolution (2024/2504(RSP)) that was adopted on January 18, 2024.

The European Parliament strongly urges the CCP to immediately end the persecution of Falun Gong, demands the immediate and unconditional release of Mr Ding and all Falun Gong practitioners in China, and calls on the EU and its members states to sanction all perpetrators and entities that have contributed to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and abroad.

The CCP has been trying to silence Ding Lebin for his ongoing advocacy abroad. During the 58th session of the UNHRC, the delegate of the Chinese communist regime tried to stop him from delivering his oral statement on the intensified persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP.

Impressions of Events

“(Falun Gong) is a practice that doesn’t harm anyone, that is not a danger to the state, but apparently the Party considers it – or has been considering it since 1999 – a threat to their ideology. The case we are focusing on is Mr Ding Yuande, who has been arrested and was in December sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. The only charge is that he practices Falun Gong. Not only Falun Gong practitioners, but the other groupings that I have named who are persecuted and repressed, need to be released unconditionally and allowed to practice their faith or to practice their culture.”

Michael Gahler, Member of the European Parliament

“People continue to be discriminated against, persecuted and killed because of their religion and their beliefs. In China, too, there is massive repression against religious minorities, such as members of the Falun Gong cultivation practice. As an example, I would like to mention here Mr Ding Yuande, who has been unjustly imprisoned for a long period of time.
It remains our task to assert freedom of religion and belief around the world, to draw attention to persecution, and to give a voice to the persecuted.”

Frank Schwabe, Member of German Bundestag & Former Federal Government Commissioner for Freedom of Religion or Belief

“We stand with the Ding family and will continue to advocate for the freedom of Ding Yuande and the protection of his wife, who, after being imprisoned in May 2023, has meanwhile been released. The Chinese government must put an end to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, which has now been going on for 25 years. These crimes – committed by the Chinese state – include acts that violate fundamental human rights and international norms. Those responsible must be brought to justice in accordance with Chinese laws and on the basis of the UN Convention against Torture.”
